Organization History:

The Austin Chinese Choir is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, amateur mixed-voice chorus.  Originated from a group of music lovers at the Austin Chinese School back in 1991, named Long-Yin Choir.  In 1993, regrouped, name Xi-Yuan Choir after Long-Yin suspended activities. Choir recognized: Chia-Feng Weng, Lynn Su, Emily Yeh Chow and Susan Liu conductors.  1998, conductor Chung-Hwa Chen started four-part mixed-voice chorus. 2005 change Chinese name from Xi-Yuan Choir to Austin Long-Yin Choir.  Under the leadership of Conductor Mrs. Emily Yeh Chow who started 2014, the singing level continues to improve.  Currently we have over 40 members.  Austin Chinese Choir regularly held family concert, annual concert and actively participate in many community events, is a very popular Chinese chorus.

Objectives:

  • To provide opportunities for learning and to discover talents in choral singing

  • To perform singing in concert of high standard

  • To present Chinese culture and music

  • To encourage cultural exchanges

Practice Time and Location:

Weekly Friday 7:00-9:30 p.m.

Membership Fee: 

Each Person: $180/year ($160 membership + $20 music sheet)
Family Member & Student: $100/year ($80 membership + $20 music sheet)

Membership fee is due on September. Uniform required for performance
